The Open Championship lights the first candle for Jiu-Jitsu in Fujairah

Under the patronage and presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, Fujairah will host for the first time the Fujairah Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship within the 2015-2016 sports season of the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation at Khalifa Hall on January 29 and 30, and the first day competitions were allocated to players “Without a suit”, while the second day will be for the participants with a “suit”.

This came during a press conference held by the Jiu-Jitsu Federation yesterday afternoon at the Millennium Hotel Fujairah, in the presence of Salem Al-Zahmi, Director of the Office of His Highness the Crown Prince of Fujairah, Yousef Al-Batran, member of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation, and Nader Abu Shawish, Technical Director of Fujairah Martial Arts Club, to announce the details of the tournament that It comes within the framework of the federation's strategic plan, to spread the sport of jiu-jitsu and provide a supportive and motivating sports environment for athletes with the aim of achieving excellence and global competition and qualifying highly qualified, experienced and professional players.

Al-Zahmi started the conference by conveying the welcome of His Highness, the Crown Prince of Fujairah, to the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation and to the participants in the Fujairah Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship, stressing his happiness at choosing Fujairah as a venue for holding one of the tournaments in this sport, which has become associated with prior success, and our beloved country has become a high-calibre through achievements by winning medals. Several, and the game in the country has become an important tributary of world champions, hoping that the Fujairah Championship will be a new starting point for greater successes for the UAE sport of jiu-jitsu.

He noted the keenness of His Highness the Crown Prince of Fujairah to support the sports and youth sectors in general, and His Highness singled out individual sports with attention, follow-up and directives based on the strategy of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, by hosting many championships in this aspect that led to outstanding successes Later, he hoped that the participants in the Fujairah Open Championship would find unique opportunities for successful participation, to confirm that Fujairah will remain proactive in supporting all targeted initiatives, and to enhance its role in supporting the success and outstanding brilliance of the sports side in our country, and work to support and develop sports at the local and global levels, and in this context, We urge all athletes to take advantage of the opportunity to hold the tournament in Fujairah for outstanding participation and for fans of this sport to enjoy its competition.

At the end of his speech, Al-Zahmi thanked the media, the strategic partner in the continuous successes achieved by Fujairah, which has become a prominent mark on the map of local and international sporting events, and a major forum for sports federations that seek to organize their championships in Fujairah.

Yusuf Al-Batran, a member of the Jiu-Jitsu Federation, extended his thanks and gratitude, on behalf of the chairman and members of the Board of Directors, to the wise leadership for their support of the sporting process, and to the first supporter and patron of the renaissance of Jiu-Jitsu, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. He also extended his thanks and gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, sponsor of the Fujairah Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship, for the prominent interest in the championship since its announcement, and also valued the cooperation of the Fujairah Martial Arts Club on the facilities and contribution to the promotion of the championship, and also thanked the tournament sponsors, the official partner of the Federation International Petroleum Investment Company IPIC, Etihad Airways, Al Tayer Motors, Land Rover and Gold Sponsor Dolphin Energy.

Al-Batran pointed out that the Fujairah Championship is a new step and an additional station for spreading the sport of jiu-jitsu and its culture after it became famous and became a very popular sport in various parts of the country by holding several similar tournaments in Dubai, Sharjah, Ras al-Khaimah and Al-Ain, and after the Jiu-Jitsu base became the most prominent and widespread with the arrival of a number of similar tournaments. The players have reached 52,000 players by 2016, and 130 schools have been built for this sport, in addition to the many achievements, most notably entering the game into the Guinness Book of Records with the largest training session, and the recent crowning of the junior national team players with 18 colored medals at the Orleans Championship in Paris, noting that The choice of Fujairah is a new addition to the season, given the great demand by the players of the Eastern Region and the Northern Emirates to participate in the Federation Championships and in response to the Jiu-Jitsu lovers in reaching them and bringing the sport of Jiu-Jitsu to every home and heart that loves challenge and excellence.

He said that the tournament will contribute to discovering new talents and refining the players' abilities to high levels of professionalism and qualification in order to prepare for the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship in its eighth edition scheduled for next April, in which the technical level is expected to rise, and the most prominent international jiu-jitsu players from all over the world will participate. All, therefore, local tournaments such as the Fujairah Championship will contribute effectively to preparing the players physically and mentally in order to reach the podiums and add more achievements, noting that the activities of the first day of the tournament dedicated to competitions without a suit tomorrow, Friday, at two o’clock in the afternoon in Khalifa Hall. In Fujairah, and the second day after tomorrow, Saturday, for the suit competitions.

The Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation revealed that in order to spread the game and provide an opportunity for all those wishing to have sex, two centers will be opened in Fujairah, and a special branch for women. Youssef Al-Batran said that the project is still in the consultation stage and that its implementation will be linked to the extent of response to it, and said: If we find a response and desire from Ladies, we will establish the club to enhance the steps we are taking in spreading the game at the state level.
