The Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation announced that it has completed the final preparations for the launch of the fifth edition of the Fujairah International Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship today, under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, which will witness the launch of the name “The Carpet of Tolerance” on the main competition rug, and circulating this initiative on All jiu-jitsu tournaments organized by the federation this year, coinciding with the announcement of 2019 as the year of tolerance.
The Federation indicated that the "Tolerance Mat" initiative is in line with the values of jiu-jitsu, which adopts the approach of tolerance, and seeks to strengthen its presence and consolidate it as a strategic value for the players and all concerned parties.
The Federation stressed that the Fujairah International Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, as the first tournament to be organized in 2019 within the 2018-2019 sports season, is of great importance to launch this initiative, given that it attracts players from inside and outside the country of various nationalities, to compete for the most basic under the umbrella of "tolerance".
The Fujairah International Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship is witnessing over two days of competitions for professional players at the local and international levels, who flocked specifically to participate in the tournament.
The first day of the tournament will witness the competitions of men and junior players (without a suit) on five rugs, while on the second day the competitions of women players (with a suit) will take place in all categories on 7 rugs, which will be distributed on five belts, which are white, blue, and violet, Brown, black, and includes 7 weights per strap.
It will be judged by 13 arbitrators.
The Fujairah Martial Arts Club confirmed the provision of the highest levels of support and the adoption of the highest standards of organization for the success of the tournament, which will be held at the Zayed Sports Complex, given the interest that the sport of jiu-jitsu enjoys at the mass level and the sports community in the emirate, as well as the diligent follow-up of the wise leadership of its activities.
Brigadier General Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi, Executive Director of the Fujairah Martial Arts Club, said: "The Emirate of Fujairah will witness a distinguished event, especially at the competitive and organizational levels, in line with the status of jiu-jitsu in the state and the world, as it has become today at the fore thanks to the popularity of the Emirati community to practice it, and it is well established. She has a good place in the hearts of athletes.”
Al Zeyoudi thanked the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Jiu-Jitsu Federation, Abdul Moneim Al-Sayed Al-Hashemi, and all the members of the Federation’s Board of Directors for their great efforts to show the championship in its distinguished form, hoping that the competitions will have a prominent public presence in the emirate.
On the preparations of the Fujairah Martial Arts Club players, Al Zeyoudi said: "Our players prepared for the competitions of this tournament by undergoing intensive training in order to win the colorful medals, as they were able, through their recent participation in important tournaments such as Abu Dhabi Grand Slam and the President's Cup, to hone their skills and gain more experience and skills. Which qualifies them to compete in any tournament with absolute confidence and success.
For his part, Muhammad Hussain Al-Marzouqi, Director of Marketing and Finance at the Jiu-Jitsu Federation, said: The Fujairah International Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship is one of the most important tournaments on the agenda of professional players over 16 years in the junior, adult and master categories, and what we have witnessed in the previous versions is the best proof. On the tireless efforts of the Federation in seeking to contribute to increasing society’s awareness of the sport of jiu-jitsu, and consolidating its position at the state level and the world as well, as this tournament was able to attract local and international players who presented exceptional competitions, by highlighting their outstanding abilities and professional skills that they enjoy out.
