His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, praised the impressive successes achieved by the Fujairah International Taekwondo Championship from year to year, and the efforts of those in charge of it and their role in the continuation of this success throughout the previous years.
This came during the opening of the sixth edition of the competitions hosted by the Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah, and its activities conclude today with the participation of 835 players representing 38 countries from different continents of the world. His Highness added that the sports events organized by Fujairah contribute to making sports a way of life for citizens and residents in the country, stressing the importance of Preserving the advanced stages that Taekwondo is going through in the country in general and Fujairah in particular, expressing his thanks to the International and Local Federation family for their supportive role in the championship competitions.
The President of the International Federation, Dr. Cho Kouki Wong, thanked and appreciated His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, for the great interest that contributed to the advancement of the sport of Taekwondo, pointing out that the United Arab Emirates has a special place in the corridors of the International Federation, so the decision came to organize the Grand Prix and the World Championships. Taekwondo for the teams that will be hosting Fujairah next December unanimously due to the great potential of the country as well as the distinctive sports infrastructure and facilities.
The fights of the second day of the championship, which enjoyed strong competition among the participants, resulted in the brilliance of the Sharjah Club players, led by the national coach Abdullah Hatem, by winning 13 colorful medals in the junior and junior categories, including two golds for Abdul Aziz Hashem and Salem Omar, as well as three silvers for Amjad. Shaheen, Karim Hatem and Muhammad Youssef, while Khalifa Al Shamsi, Omar Yasser, Saud Abdullah, Muhammad Abdel Fattah, Hamdan Yaqoub and Ahmed Mahmoud each won one medal. In second place, Jordan's Saleh Al-Sharbati took third place, shared with Russia's Ruston.
As for the girls’ competitions, the Fujairah Martial Arts Club won seven medals, including three silvers for Souad Rashid, Noura Sultan and Aisha Mubarak, in exchange for four bronzes for Maryam Salem, Dima Shaheen, Fatima Sam and Nawal Mohammed. The brilliance was also for the Sharjah duo, Najla Omar and Maitha Abdul God crossed the bronze medals.
