Yesterday, Friday, the two-star Arab Taekwondo Championship, which was held over the past two days in the Emirate of Fujairah under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, and organized by the UAE Federation of the Game and Fujairah Martial Arts Club in Zayed Sports Complex, concluded yesterday, Friday. .
The tournament witnessed the participation of 1,080 male and female players from 17 countries, who represented 101 teams and competed in the adult, youth and junior categories.
The clubs and centers of the state and our national teams won the largest percentage of medals in all categories, represented by 41 colored medals, including 9 gold, 9 silver and 23 bronze medals. Among these medals, the UAE team also had 5 medals, including one gold, 3 silver and one bronze.
The Fujairah Martial Arts Club achieved a historic and distinguished achievement by taking first place in the general ranking of the clubs and centers that participated in the tournament with a total of 191 points, after its champions won 32 medals, including 9 gold, 7 silver and 16 bronze medals.
Wadi Degla Club from Egypt came second with 97 points, winning 10 medals, including 6 gold, 3 silver and one bronze. The Egyptian Shooting Club Kattameya came in third place with 65 points, after winning 7 medals, including 4 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze.
As for the participating teams, the Moroccan team won the first place in the overall cup after collecting 98 points by winning 14 medals, including 4 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze. The Egyptian team came in second place with 95 points after winning 15 medals, including 4 gold And the Jordanian team came third with 91 points, winning 10 medals, including 6 gold, two silver and two bronze.
The competitions for the ninth edition of the Fujairah International Championship, classified as two stars, will start tomorrow, Sunday, over 3 days, with the participation of 1,790 participants, representing 57 countries and 215 teams.
