Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, the fifth edition of the Fujairah International Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship will start next Friday and Saturday at the Zayed Sports Complex, amid a wide turnout of international professional players over 16 years old to compete in the junior, adult and professor categories.
The Fujairah International Championship, during its past editions, succeeded in establishing its global position as a professional platform in the jiu-jitsu arena, as well as being an important station in the 2018-2019 sports season, by attracting distinguished international players, and its continuous contributions to enhancing the experiences of the participating players.
The tournament provides players with a competitive and interactive environment, enabling participants to learn about the various levels and skills, as well as collect points and upgrade their classification, according to the classification system approved by the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation.
Mohammed bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, member of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation, confirmed that the Federation continues to organize tournaments that are closely related to its strategic goals of enhancing the country’s position in the world and attracting professional players, as well as allowing it to raise the local and international rating of the participants, and thus, improving their professional career. to new levels.
Ibn Dalmouj pointed out that the Fujairah International Championship, which is being held in its fifth edition, has become one of the tournaments that draws the attention of the community of jiu-jitsu players from inside and outside the country, as it has been able to be a starting platform for many players to reach the world after their success in collecting points and raising the level of international classification.
Ibn Dalmouj expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Fujairah Martial Arts Club, and stressed that hosting the Emirate of Fujairah for this tournament enhances its position and presence in sports forums, and said: We are confident that we will witness enthusiastic competitions and advanced professional levels, in light of the wide participation of those with records of achievements at the national level. and international.
The tournament, which will be judged by 13 referees, will witness the players’ competitions on 5 rugs on the first day, and 7 rugs on the second day. The first day includes men’s and junior players’ competitions (without a suit), while the women’s players participate on the second day in competitions (with a suit). ) in all categories, which will be divided into 5 belts, which are white, blue, purple, brown and black, and include 7 weights for each belt.
The Technical Committee of the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation indicated that the Fujairah International Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship will witness a single calculation system for the competitions, represented by the exit of the players when they suffer a loss.
The players who will win the gold medal in the Fujairah International Championship will get 60 points to be added to their balance, while the silver medal winners will get 40 points, and 30 points for the bronze medal winners. , and from the fifth to the eighth will get 10 points, and five points for the players who scored the ninth to the sixteenth place, and three points for the players who will achieve the places between 17 and 32, while the participating players and those who are out of no order will receive one point.
Obaid Al Kaabi, Al Ain black belt player, who won four colorful medals in the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship, said: I will participate on the first day of the tournament as an arbitrator (without a suit), and on the second day I will compete in the competition (with a suit), as I pay great attention to my participation in This tournament, which is an important factor in the journey of jiu-jitsu players in the country, as it helps us earn more points, and is a platform to collect the best jiu-jitsu players in the country.
The player Bashayer Al Matrooshi, who won the 62 kg blue belt from Al Ain Club, who will participate in the tournament, thanked the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation for its efforts in organizing local and international tournaments, and providing the opportunity for local players to participate in them to gain more experience and points that help them raise their rank. She indicated that she is working hard on her training in preparation for participating in this year's Fujairah Championship.
