His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, crowned yesterday morning the first winners of the second edition of the Fujairah International Triathlon Championship, organized by the Fujairah Martial Arts Club, in cooperation with the Fujairah Natural Resources Foundation, with the participation of 300 male and female players from 30 countries from around the world.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi praised the unlimited and continuous support extended by His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, to the sports and youth sector, and the support and care provided by the wise leadership to various types of sports.
His Highness congratulated the winners of the first places in the championship, expressing his thanks and appreciation to the organizers of the championship and their efforts in organizing this important event and consolidating it as a sporting occasion every year.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi received the championship shield, in appreciation of his constant support for the sport of triathlon.
For his part, Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi, Executive Director of the Fujairah Martial Arts Club, expressed his deepest thanks and appreciation to His Highness, the Crown Prince of Fujairah, for his permanent sponsorship of the club, which paved the way for a qualitative shift in all sports at the local and international levels, including triathlon.
It is noteworthy that the Fujairah International Triathlon Championship includes three stages in succession, starting with swimming for a distance of 1,500 metres, then cycling for a distance of 40 km, and running for a distance of 10 km, in addition to organizing a similar event for women and children.
The coronation ceremony was attended by Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, President of the Emirates Federation for Bodybuilding and Fitness, Salem Al Zahmi, Director of the Office of His Highness the Crown Prince, a number of sports leaders in the emirate and a large audience of triathletes.
