The seventh edition of the Fujairah Open International Taekwondo Championship, organized by the Fujairah Martial Arts Club at Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah, was launched yesterday under the supervision of the International Federation of the Game and the Emirates Taekwondo Federation, with a record participation that is the highest among all taekwondo championships, reaching 1257 players and players distributed among 80 teams representing 40 countries from The various continents of the world, led by the UAE.
The activities of the first day included promising talent competitions for young ages from 6-9 years and from 9-11 for boys and girls, and they showed high skills despite their young age and promising levels, while the official opening ceremony will be held at 6:30 in the evening in the presence of the tournament’s sponsor, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah and Honorary President of the Emirates Taekwondo Federation, which includes performances from the Korean teams affiliated with the International Taekwondo Federation and some various paragraphs with the participation of the Folk Arts Troupe, as well as holding the final match for one of the weights, crowning the champions and honoring the strategic partners, and this precedes the holding of junior and female competitions during the morning period While the weighing process will be conducted for the men's and girls' competitions, which will be held on the third day of the tournament.
Belgian Abdelhak Boushabib, Vice President of the International Taekwondo Federation and head of the jury, described the organization as wonderful, stressing that had it not been for the good organization and hospitality enjoyed by the players, administrators and referees, the best clubs in the world and the best players would not have attended, pointing out that the participation of 1257 male and female players confirms the success of the tournament before it begins.
