UAE champions launch world club competitions in Jordan

Aug 05, 2016

The World Taekwondo Club Championship kicked off yesterday, hosted by the Jordanian capital Amman, with the participation of 665 male and female players from 45 clubs from around the world. The Fujairah Martial Arts Club, representing the Emirates Taekwondo, came to the fore, and the Fujairah players were drawn into strong confrontations with players from Jordanian clubs with advanced levels.

On a related side, the organizational, administrative and media circles in the tournament expressed their overwhelming happiness for the UAE’s victory in hosting the next edition of the Grand Prix Championship and the Taekwondo Team World Cup, which will be hosted by Fujairah in December 2018, and considered it a global achievement due to the status and artistic value of this tournament in the world.

Ihab Banat, a member of the Jabal Oman Taekwondo Council, said that Fujairah's winning of hosting the event is the happiest achievement of the Arab sports family, because the UAE will be the first Arab country to host this event, which will serve as a strong point that enables the sport of Taekwondo in our region to move towards the better. Jamal Al-Suqour, head of the examination committee at the Jordan Taekwondo Federation, said: "Hosting is an important and proud event for us in Taekwondo, the countries of the Middle East and the Arab world, and it will certainly serve the region greatly."

As for Khader Khalifa Khader, director of the World Club Championship, he said: "A victory coincided with his family, and we are happy for that, and we hope that our Arab champions in general and the Emiratis in particular will have a distinguished share of their colorful medals, and we are all happy for that and we look forward to being present in this major tournament."
