A special conclusion to the Fujairah International Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship

The competitions of the sixth edition of the Fujairah International Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship concluded yesterday, with the wide participation of players of different nationalities representing about 54 local, regional and international clubs. The tournament witnessed a growth in the number of participating players by 10% compared to the previous edition.

The Fujairah International Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship witnessed a wide participation of clubs at the state level and abroad, in order to win the largest number of medals, and enhance their classification over the 2019-20 sports season, in addition to the local and international classification that each player will obtain through his participation, and the result he achieved within his competitions.

The stands of the Sheikh Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah were filled with fans, who flocked from different regions of the country, to support their players and clubs. The tournament was attended by Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, President of the UAE Federation for Body Building and Physical Strength, Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, and Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Martial Sports Club, Brigadier Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi, Executive Director of Fujairah Martial Arts Club, and Abdullah Ali Al Dhanhani, Director of Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank - Fujairah Branch.

For his part, Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi expressed his happiness to be in the tournament, praising the wonderful organization of the competitions, and the distinguished attendance of players from different countries of the world.

He praised the Sheikh Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah, describing it as an architectural masterpiece that will enhance the presence of jiu-jitsu in the Emirate of Fujairah by hosting the most important international tournaments in close cooperation with the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation.

Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Owais expressed his happiness with the participation of the Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club in the tournament, and praised the qualitative leap witnessed by the Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club at the level of jiu-jitsu.

Al Owais confirmed that the club is in the process of organizing a specialized tournament, the first in the country, represented by the Sharjah Government Employees Championship; To become the first specialized sports club to organize this tournament in cooperation with the Sharjah Government Employees Club and under the supervision of the Sharjah Sports Council and the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation.

Brigadier Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi, President of the Fujairah Martial Arts Club, confirmed that the organization of the Fujairah Championship comes within the directives of the leadership in consolidating the emirate's position as one of the leading cities in hosting jiu-jitsu championships in the UAE and the world, while always welcoming the jiu-jitsu community.

Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice President of the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation, said: The unlimited support provided by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, and his generous sponsorship of the championship, contributed to the Fujairah International Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship occupying a distinguished position on the map of international jiu-jitsu championships, and attracting it to the most prominent Players from the region and the world.

Al Dhaheri stressed that the Fujairah Championship, in its sixth edition, witnessed a qualitative leap in the technical level of the players, based on their keenness to raise their classification, and reach the podiums at the end of the season.

Emirati player Hamda Bamahdaf, who holds the blue belt from Al Jazira Club and won the gold medal in the 40 kg weight category, said: She always aims to get first place, stressing that the sport of jiu-jitsu taught her perseverance and determination to achieve the goals and her next goal is to win the gold in the Al Ain International Championship. Emirates Club player Mohammed Salem Al Shamsi, brown belt - weight 110 - who won the gold medal in the masters category, said: The joy in achieving this achievement is indescribable, stressing that he has prepared well for this tournament with his eyes on reaching the podiums. Al Shamsi added that the Fujairah Championship is a starting point towards strengthening the professional journey and preparing strongly for the World Championship.

Adel Al Zarooni, Chairman of the Social Responsibility Council at ADIB, said: “ADIB is proud to continue its sponsorship of the Fujairah International Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship; To be one of the main supporters of the sport of jiu-jitsu, in an effort to consolidate the position of the United Arab Emirates on the international arena and convey a good image, and reflect the civilized face of the state. Such a tournament also provides the opportunity for participants from all countries to visit their second country, not only to compete, but for the UAE to be a meeting place for peoples and civilizations.”
