The Fujairah Martial Arts Club, in cooperation with the Natural Resources Corporation, announced the organization of the second edition of the Fujairah International Triathlon Championship, which will be held on the Fujairah Corniche next Saturday, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, with the participation of more than 300 players of different ages representing 30 countries around the world. This came during the press conference held yesterday, at the Fujairah Martial Arts Club, in the presence of Brigadier General Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi, Executive Director of the club, Engineer Ali Qassem, Director of Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation, Mohsen Al Ali, Tournament Director, Abdullah Shamlan, Director of Post Events Organization, and Zahi Hamdan, Hotel Manager Blue Diamond.
Al Zeyoudi extended his thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, for the generous care and unlimited support in all aspects, which led to Fujairah becoming a destination for all sports. He said that they are looking forward to making the Fujairah Triathlon race a global one worthy of the name of the UAE and Fujairah, expressing his thanks to the Fujairah Natural Resources Foundation for sponsoring the second consecutive edition. He also thanked the Blue Diamond Al Salam Hotel in Fujairah and the Emirates Triathlon Association for the joint cooperation that paved the way for choosing a good timing that was adopted Within the agenda of the races, which contributes to the wide participation of the best players, he also thanked the Fujairah International Marine Sports Club for the cooperation and providing many important requirements for success.
For his part, Ali Qassem affirmed the support of the Fujairah Natural Resources Foundation for all activities that serve to promote the emirate, especially with regard to the practice of sports because of its importance to the health and safety of all, wishing the participants success.
In turn, Mohsen Al Ali, Tournament Director, explained that the Olympic race includes three stages in succession, starting with swimming for a distance of 1,500 meters, then riding bicycles for a distance of 40 km, and running for a distance of 10 km, in addition to organizing a similar event for women and children. He said that the most prominent participating countries alongside the UAE are America, Germany, Bahrain, Brazil, Australia, Kuwait and Portugal, pointing to the monitoring of a valuable set of financial prizes for the winners, as well as allocating prizes to the top three male and female citizens in various age groups, to stimulate participation in the tournament.
